Are you tired of seeing your Pinterest ad budget go down the drain without getting the conversions you were hoping for? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. But fear not, fren, because I’m here to help you optimize your Pinterest ads for conversions!
First things first, let’s define what we mean by conversions. In the simplest terms, a conversion is when a Pinterest user takes an action that you want them to take, such as making a purchase, signing up for your email list, or downloading your freebie.
Now, let’s dive into some tips and best practices to help you get those coveted conversions.
Choose the Right Objective
When setting up your Pinterest ad campaign, make sure you choose the right objective that aligns with your conversion goal. For example, if your goal is to drive website visits, choose the “consideration” objective. If your goal is to get people to sign up for your email list, choose the “conversion” objective.
Target the Right Audience
Make sure you’re targeting the right audience for your ad. Pinterest offers a wide range of targeting options, from interests and keywords to demographics and behaviors. Take some time to research and analyze your audience to ensure you’re targeting the right people.

Create High-Quality Pin Images for Your Ad Creatives
As I mentioned in my previous blog post regarding ad design, visuals are key on Pinterest. Make sure your ad creatives are eye-catching, high-quality, stop the scroll, and relevant to your target audience. Use bright colors, high-resolution images, and clear text overlays to grab the attention of your audience.
Optimize for Pin Clicks and Outbound Clicks
Pin clicks are when a user clicks on your ad within Pinterest, while outbound clicks are when a user clicks on your ad and goes to your website. Make sure you’re tracking both metrics separately, so you can see which ads are driving the most traffic to your website — especially if that is your goal.
Monitor CTR and CPM
CTR (click-through rate) measures the number of clicks your ad receives divided by the number of times it was shown. CPM (cost per impressions) measures the cost per thousand impressions. Keep an eye on both metrics to ensure you’re getting the most bang for your buck. Pro tip: pay close attention to your CTR in the beginning and make sure it’s above .60%.
By following these tips and best practices, you’ll be well on your way to optimizing your Pinterest ads for conversions.
