Adalyn finished the last touches to her makeup as her cell phone rang. She already knew it was Kelcee calling because it wouldn\u2019t have been Landon checking in like a good boyfriend would. \u201cYou outside?\u201d Adalyn spoke into the phone as she put it on speaker and continued to make sure everything was in order.<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cYasssss!\u201d Kelcee exclaimed.<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cGirl bring ya ass!\u201d Adalyn heard Trinity, the final piece to their trio, yell. She laughed from hearing the excitement of her friends. She had to admit she too was ready for a well-deserved night out with her girls because she couldn\u2019t remember the last time she did.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cI\u2019m coming! I\u2019m coming!\u201d Adalyn pressed the red end call button while grabbing her black clutch and exiting her bedroom. She took one final look at herself in the full-length mirror positioned against the hallway outside of the kitchen. She was working the skin tight smoky gray colored dress that stopped mid thigh. The back of the dress drooped allowing all of her back to be on full display down to her arch. She topped it off with silver accessories and five inch black stilettos.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cGoing out?\u201d her roommate, Gynah, asked, walking out of her bedroom. \u201cYou\u2018re working that dress.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cThanks and yeah. My friends are dragging me to that End of Summer party tonight at Beachem.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cThat\u2019s what\u2019s up. You don\u2019t get out enough, girl.\u201d She walked into the kitchen and grabbed a water out of the fridge.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cRight. Landon turned me into a homebody.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/div>

Gynah giggled. \u201cMen will do that. Well have fun.\u201d She retreated into her room as Adalyn took a selfie.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>

Adalyn and Gynah were cordial, but they weren\u2019t friends. Adalyn was looking for a roommate after her last one had to leave on short notice and Gynah was a friend of Landon\u2019s good girl friend, Tessah. They meshed as roommates but Adalyn wasn\u2019t keen on the fact that she was friends with Tessah.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>

Tessah and Landon had been\u00a0supposedly\u00a0<\/i>platonic best friends since they met freshman year but Adalyn never bought it. She believed they\u2019d fucked just as he\u2019d fucked many others he claimed he didn\u2019t.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>

Before Adalyn could get situated in the car, the questions flew. \u201cSo how did you convince bae to let you out?\u201d Kelcee interrogated.<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cWhat you got off for good behavior or something?\u201d Trinity joked. \u201cI guess you must have worked the dick. Or did you sneak out?\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cNah she too much of a goodie two shoe.\u201d Kelcee put in her two cents and then continued, \u201cGirl where you got that dress from?\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cAnd them shoes!! They\u2014\u201d Trinity chimed in only to get cut off by Adalyn.<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cWell damn am I supposed to answer any of these questions? Can y\u2019all tricks breathe? Y\u2019all worse than the damn police. Shit! Feel like I\u2019m getting interrogated. What\u2019s the damn charges?\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cBeing able to leave the damn house!\u201d Trinity and Kelcee screamed and laughter followed.<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cI hate y\u2019all. I should have stayed in the house.\u201d Adalyn pouted and crossed her arms over her chest. \u201cAnd for the record, I leave the house!\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cNot with us,\u201d Kelcee objected.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cFacts. Anyway,\u201d Trinity cut in. \u201cKels said you were staying in with the boo. What changed?\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>

Adalyn allowed her eyes to roll as the conversation with Landon replayed in her head. \u201cWell he had other plans.\u201d She tried to keep her response vague. Her friends thought her and Landon\u2019s relationship was picturesque and she preferred to keep it that way. When people know about your problems, they always wanted to give their opinion on what they would do and you should do and Adalyn didn\u2019t need the negativity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cUm what you mean?\u201d Trinity asked turning around in the passenger seat to look at Adalyn. Kelcee peaked at her through the rear-view mirror.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>

Adalyn let out a small sigh, \u201cHe told me that he had plans to chill with his LBs and vibe. You know how them niggas do.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cAnd he didn\u2019t tell you?\u201d Trinity questioned. Adalyn didn\u2019t want to play twenty-one questions even though she knew her two closest friends wanted to be informed about her life. She was hardly ever around them anymore and it had nothing to do with Landon\u2019s control issues. It was her and wanting to always be around her man and making sure that he kept his penis in his pants. But she needed to do better, this was their last year together before they all went off to live life post college.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>

Yet, the question struck a nerve. \u201cObviously not. Anyway I\u2019m done talking bout his fuck ass. I\u2019m tryna have fun tonight. So please don\u2019t ruin it with his name.\u201d Trinity nodded and turned back around in her seat.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u201cThat\u2019s fine \u2018cause I was done talking about him anyway,\u201d Kelcee said with a laugh as they arrived at their destination.<\/span><\/p><\/div>

The club was wall to wall packed but Adalyn loved it. The energy was high, and she was on her third Grateful Dead and her fifth guy. Or at least that was what she remembered. She was feeling like she was on top of the motherfucking world. Adalyn and her girls were in their zones without a care in the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>

Adalyn laughed at Trinity twerking her entire soul on some random dude who couldn\u2019t handle her. \u201cGet him girl!\u201d Adalyn yelled as she herself put in work on the dude she was dancing with. Seconds later someone snatched her by her arm having her to come face to face with\u00a0him<\/i>. Her body froze.<\/span><\/p><\/div>
