How to Be Consistent with Pinterest Marketing

Today I am talking about how to actually stay consistent on Pinterest: implementation. Implementation is where it starts to matter about the number of pins you’re going to pin and how many pins you’re going to create. That’s when that actually comes into play. I want you to know that your strategy comes before you actually start thinking about the number of pins that you’re going to have.

After you’ve identified who your people are on Pinterest, mapped out your cohesive strategy (your Pinterest sales funnel and your content strategy) then you’re going to figure out how many pins to create and decide on what’s feasible, a posting schedule that feels good. So a lot of times people ask me, well, how many pins should I pin? And I really can’t tell you that because I don’t know the content that you’re creating. The amount of content you’re creating will determine how many pins you can create and how often you can actually be showing up on the platform. The goal, however, is to always show up on the platform every single day, not necessarily yourself, but your content needs to be shown up on the platform every single day.

That is why I can’t really tell you how often to pin because I need to know deeper questions about your content, how much content you’re creating. Some people are creating four podcasts a month. Some people are creating live videos every day, all these pieces of content, whether it’s video content, blogs, podcasts, all these things can be repurposed onto Pinterest. When I say repurposed, that means that you can use them to drive Pinterest traffic too. So when you are on Pinterest, you’re wanting to drive traffic to your content. You’re not really thinking about the content that you’re creating for Pinterest. You’re thinking about the content that you can drive Pinterest traffic to. And that’s why it’s really important to really think through how much content you’re going to create. And then you can determine how many pins you’re going to actually be pinning per piece of content. And how many times you’re going to be showing up on the platform.

Now, once you decide on that, the hard part is staying consistent, which is what we’re talking about today, how to really stay consistent and that is by creating a workflow. I will be the first person to say that when I first started using Pinterest for myself, before I got too far into using it for other people’s business, it’s really hard to stay consistent if you don’t know how, if you don’t have a workflow. So I had to figure out what I needed to do in order to actually keep showing up on the platform, in order to actually keep getting that traffic coming from Pinterest.

📍 Create Your Workflow

So there’s two parts of what I like to call my Baddie workflow and that’s the task and the schedule. So the first thing is you want to make a list of all the tasks necessary to get you from content creation to Pinterest. So you’re going to take some time, write down every single thing you need to do to actually get you from creating your content, to getting it actually on the platform. So there’s going to be content creation. There might be content repurposing depending on what you’re doing, like for me, I do video content. So I have to repurpose my content to blog content. I repurposed my content to a YouTube video. So I’m doing all these things before I’m even creating pins for this content. Then you’re going to want to know when you’re going to create your pin titles, descriptions, all the different things that are required before your content actually goes out on the platform.

That’s the first part of your workflow. These are the tasks that you’re going to need to do before you start pinning. So when it comes to working with my VIB day clients, of course I let them know or we are sitting down during the implementation section and we’re actually going to be able to work through what their workflow tasks will look like. And I’m going to give them all the tools that they need to actually create a workflow that works for them because my workflow works for me and how I serve my clients. But other people’s workflow works for how they’re going to work, how their brain works, because we’re all different. We all like to do different things. And you might have a team. So you might do certain things on your flow that I might not do because you have a whole team that can help you on different parts of your workflow.

📍 Create Your Schedule

The second part is to make a schedule of when you will be doing each task. So now you have all the lists of your tasks and then you’re going to want to create a schedule. So this is the key part, because you know all the tasks that we need to do, but if we’re not actually knowing when we’re going to do them, then that’s going to cause you to get behind on things. That’s going to cause you not to be showing up on Pinterest or your content has to be showing up on Pinterest all the time and you’re not going to be consistent. And then you’re going to say, Pinterest doesn’t work when really you’re not putting in the work to make it work. So I want to make sure that you know that you’re going to create your list of tasks and then you are going to make a schedule.

You might say on Monday of this week, I do my content creation. On Tuesday I make the pin title and pin titles and descriptions. On Wednesdays I’m going out and creating the pin images.. On Thursday I’m actually scheduling them to Tailwind. So that’s what a schedule will look like, but you are going to actually have to keep track of when you’re supposed to do these things and how long it’s going to take you. Some people might do all these in one day. Some people might split it up upon different weeks, but the goal is to know when you’re going to do each of the steps of your workflow, your schedule, your task.

📍 Create Your Content

Once you have that in place, then you can really be more efficient when it comes to Pinterest. You don’t want to spend extra time doing things that are really going to take either more time or just aren’t necessary. So for example, I source all of my stock photos for whatever client I’m working on. I source all the stock photos that I’m going to use when I’m batching the pin images at one time, therefore I’m not creating a pin image, trying to find the actual stock photo, creating another pin image, trying to find another stock photo. It’s going to take me more time if I have to pause every time to find an image. If I have all these images already set and ready to go, then I can just drag and drop into the pin designs.

Another thing is if I have all my pin titles that I’m going to use already laid out, before I go into Canva to design the pins. Personally, I can create a certain amount of pins, like I can do 10 pins in 10 minutes these days. It really is quick for me because I have my templates already. I have the pin titles already. I know the images I’m using and that’s because a part of my workflow is to already do these steps. And I know what to do in each step. A lot of times when we first start out with a new platform, we’re kind of doing things in different order. You know, one day you might do the pin images another day, you might be like, okay I’ve got to go back and create the descriptions and you’re working out of order each time you’re working in a different order each time. But if you have a workflow in place and you know exactly what steps you’re going to take for each task, then that’s going to make things much easier, much simpler, and it’s going to be easy for you to stay consistent.

Those are my key tips for today in order to really get your implementation going, to actually getting your pins that you’re creating out on the platform and to stay consistent, definitely create yourself a workflow and stick to it. Create a habit behind it so that, you know, these days I’m doing these things for Pinterest and it’s going to make it much easier as time goes on.
